Winnie The Pooh Picture Sells for £314,500 at Sotheby's Auction

This Sale Breaks Two World Records

... one for the most expensive illustration by E.H. Shephard ever to sell, and the second for the most expensive book illustration ever sold at auction.

So, who bought the print?  Is the new owner an art collector or a Pooh fan or both?

Pooh is now rated as the second most valuable children's character in the world - after Mickey Mouse. His merchandising sells around $471 billion a year.  I believe this amount would be much, much higher if Disney were to allow the sale of more Pooh merchandise in the US and just get past the Slesinger lawsuit.

Maybe one day my Guinness World Record collection (which is past 11.6K...) will have an original E.H. Shepard.
