A Visit to the A.A. Milne Estate & Ashdown Forest

I don't think I'll ever be able to forget our trip to England and our visit to the A.A. Milne Estate.

For a "round number" birthday, Gary made the celebration a whole year event with the theme "All Things Winnie the Pooh".  So, what "All Things Winnie the Pooh" celebration would be complete without going to England.

While planning the trip I got it into my head to see if we could visit the estate of author A.A. Milne.  After a little research I came to find the estate was actually the home of a private owner.

Hum -- well -- what to do, what to do.  Do I connect the owner?  Do I not?  What the heck - I did!

After A LOT of searching I found the name of the owner and I sent him a request to visit his home while we were in England.  I put a stamp on the envelope and mailed it.  I put every form of contact information I had email, Facebook, Twitter, cell phone, landline, pigeon coordinates -- and crossed my fingers he would contact me.

Then about 5 weeks later I got an email.  OMG!  I was so afraid to open it.  What if he said no?  Easy - I'd cry.  What if he said yes?  Easy - I'd cry.  So since I would cry either way I opened the email -- and cried.  HE SAID YES!  He would be happy to host Gary and me and give us a tour.

Fastforward to our trip.... we ended up scheduling our visit to the A.A.Milne estate for the first full day we were in England.
