Dickie Moore

Dickie Moore

Born: September 12, 1925
Died: September 7, 2015
in Los Angeles, California, USA
Dickie Moore (born John Richard Moore Jr.) made his acting and screen debut at the age of 18 months in the John Barrymore film The Beloved Rogue (1927). By the time he had turned ten he was a popular child star and had appeared in 52 films. Moore continued as a child star for many more years, and was the actor who gave Shirley Temple her first romantic screen kiss when that honor was bestowed upon him in 1942's Miss Annie Rooney.

As with many child actors, once Moore got older the roles began to dry up. He made his final film in 1950, but was still in the public eye with the 1949 to 1955 television series Captain Video and His Video Rangers (1949). He then retired from acting for a new career in publicity.

Moore died, age 89, in 2015.

Blue Skies
Title: Blue Skies
Released: March 16, 1929
Type: Movie
Better known for her work in talkie "weepers," Helen Twelvetrees made a few preliminary appearances in such late silent films as Fox's Blue Skies. The audience was expected to believe that the twentysomething Twelvetrees and Frank Albertson are teenagers living together platonically in an orphan asylum. A wealthy old man comes calling to adopt Albertson -- who, feeling sorry for Twelvetrees, trades places with the girl. Thus it is that the heroine is carted off to a luxurious mansion, while Albertson remains behind. One year later, the old man discovers Albertson's deception, whereupon he invites the boy to live with him as well. By this time, Twelvetrees and Albertson are of marriageable age, thus the film ends with a wedding in the offing.
