The Wolf and his confederate there make a strenuous effort to secure the valued book but they are frustrated by Fred Randall, Marguerite's sweetheart, and all ends well when the soldiers of the fort pursuing. The Wolf engages in a skirmish in which the international crook is killed and his confederate captured.
