The co-founder of the Gamma press agency, Raymond Depardon, created this documentary of press photographers in Paris and their subjects by following the photographers around for one month, in October, 1980. In-between long hours waiting for a celebrity to emerge from a restaurant or a hotel, boredom immediately switches to fast action as the cameras click and roll when the person appears. The reaction to the gaggle of photographers is as varied as the people they often literally chase all around town. While some of the celebrities, such as Jacques Chirac who was mayor of Paris at the time, are perceived as comical caricatures, others are shown simply going about ordinary pursuits - including Catherine Deneuve, Gene Kelly, and Jean-Luc Godard.

Midi Première is a French variety show presented by Danièle Gilbert, directed by Jacques Pierre and broadcast from January 6, 1975 until January 1, 1982 on TF1. The program was generally broadcast between 12:15 p.m. and 12:55 p.m., then giving way to the 1:00 p.m. TV news. However, the broadcast schedule could change, depending on the guests, and the setting where the recording of the program was shot. Certain performances by artists who have become cult like the one where Ringo jostles with a demonstrator in interpretation (1977), that of Dalida with the title There is always a song with the soundtrack that does not start, twice, at the right speed (1978), Claude François and his Clodettes, who, in the provinces, are unable to join "the set" in order to interpret his song, the latter being taken by the crowd of delirious fans (summer 1977) . The group Supertramp performed there with the title "Dreamer" on March 8, 1975.

Two couples, undermined by frequent scenes, fall apart: the men, Richard and Bertrand, directors of an advertising agency, move into their office; soon Lucien, their main client and friend, suffering from the same afflictions, joins them in this new bachelor life. For their part, the women regroup and organize themselves: Victoire absorbs herself in her work as a decorator; Charlotte, long submissive to Richard's personality, raises her head and finds a job; as for Pascaline, she runs off with Tabard, her husband Lucien's groom, to start raising sheep. Denis, a hypersensitive teenager, is revolted both against his distant, pretentious, well-to-do parents and their superficial society firends and the stiff, intolerant catholic establishment in which he studies. Fortunately,he has an open-minded philosophy teacher, Father Philippe de Maubrun, who understands him and supports him in his distress.

Michel, a writer of detective novels, is married to Pat, a pretty woman he's been neglecting. One day, the results of a private investigation reveal that his wife is cheating on him. But he'd never contacted a private detective before. The facts are all the more disturbing in that they coincide with the detective story he is writing with his beautiful young secretary. However, he finds himself playing a game of life and death both with Vera, and Porte. It will end in sadness for one, and death for another.

Transposed to the 1960s, this short story by Balzac tells the story of a jealous husband who hears a door slam when he returns home. His wife swears there was no one there, but refuses to open the oil tank. To get to the bottom of it, the husband has fuel delivered. To what fatal outcome will their stubbornness lead them?
