Year 1898. When war broke out in Cuba, Juanita, a beautiful variety singer without much luck, decides to return to Spain when she discovers that her twin sister Adelaide has married the governor of Badajoz. Adelaide is capricious, vain and embarrassing, the opposite of Juanita. However, as the girls are physically identical, the singer intends to take full advantage of this situation.

The film depicts the true, but dramatized, story of the brave Spanish soldier, Herr Eloy Gonzalo, rewarded during the Cuban war for his bravery defending the Spanish army position at Cascorro village.

Don Sabino, a priest from the provinces who lives with his niece, Monica. Don Sabino is an arcane priest but his character changes radically when he is with Lucila, a girl whom he and Monica have raised since she was just a baby, when they found her abandoned at the door of their house. Don Sabino is a very helpful priest with his parishioners and life goes on without great upheavals until one day Tomasón appears, fleeing from justice after having committed a murder.
