This unexpected action confuses the actor’s environment. Everybody sets out to the Danube in order to find out the real reasons for the actor’s odd behavior and to hear when he will return to normal life. The actor refuses to talk, stating that only known what he does not want! The young director, who earlier started work on filming a portrait of the actor, doesn’t know what to do. The opening night is postponed.

"The Written Off" is a famous Serbian TV series, that was very popular in former Yugoslavia, originally airing in 1974. Due to its popularity, Radio Television of Serbia has shown reruns of the series ten times, the last re-run starting in 2012. The series has achieved something of a cult status among its audience and still attracts an estimated 3 million viewers with its last rerun. Idea of series derives from exploits of freedom fighters in Belgrade during World War II, and all the characters and events are fictitious.

Vuko, a young servant of Kotor prince, makes entourage with his brother and friends in order to obtain for the daughter of Venetian Doge for the prince's son. They spend seven weeks of drinking, whoring and without thoughts of anything else. Even without knowing beforehand who is Maltese, Vuko is being sworn in on the eve of execution, so that the knight would deceive his miserable destiny at least a bit.
