The film tells about the period of Polish history in the 20s of the last century, when the fragile government of the country fell, and a man of the people came to the fore. In fact, he turned out to be a cunning populist and an immoral politician, ready for any tricks for the sake of his goals.

The title character of the film is a retired nurse who lives alone and is always in a hurry to help others. She knows perfectly well what pain and suffering are, she has experienced the loss of people closest to her, and as a nurse she has become accustomed to transience and death.

Warsaw elites meet at a ball in Baron Neman's palace, where they discuss the political situation in Poland.

The series centres around the investigations of Police Lieutenant Sławomir Borewicz. Each episode features a different case being solved by Borewicz.

Two young men from a town near Lodz attack and rob a taxi driver, hoping he will have a lot of cash. Wanted by the Militia, they run away through Poland.
