The eldest daughter of a professor of psychology at a large conservative university causes havoc, and great embarrassment, for her father with her free-willed and uninhibited lifestyle.

After the success of the live 1957 Cinderella on CBS (with Julie Andrews), the network decided to produce another television version. When June marries and leaves, Rose turns her hope and attention to her elder, less obviously talented, daughter Louise. However, having her headlining as a stripper at Minsky's Burlesque is not what she initially has in mind.
