He still loved this project, and decided that it was strong enough/ interesting enough to be developed for prime time. So that’s what we did. And the original idea began to buckle once subjected to the scrutiny of the prime time development process. You probably can tell that the designs of these characters are pretty similar to Doc and Mharti. Originally that's exactly what they were going to be, but with different names of course. Then we got Andy Dick on the table and how could I resist. He is hilarious and he did a great job in this as pumpkinseeds and peanuts. This was another one of the cartoons made for Acceptable TV that never saw the light of day. It killed me, because I know I would have had more fun making this than I did making Mister Sprinkles. Maybe someday we'll figure out what rich banker owns this and figure out a way to do it as a real TV show. Maybe Dan Harmon and I own it already! Who knows! Check your local listings!

This was my entry to a very old (2004) Channel101 pilot for FX. IT SUCKS! DON’T WATCH IT! Out of all the things I’ve ever made, THIS is the one that I am the most ashamed of. I hesitated to even post it on this website, but that felt like the wrong thing to do. Let me start with the things that I love about this. I love Patton Oswalt as the father. I wrote the character to be like Dave from “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and Patton delivered the goods and then some. I love Rich Fulcher as the battery guy/ dad’s friend. Rich is amazing. I love Laura Silverman as the little girl. in fact, I love all the voices except for Toro and Moro themselves. I also love the character designs and I love the painted backgrounds by Steven Chunn. I love the look overall. It feels nice. But I dropped the ball where it counts the most. The story and the comedy.

Since the 2005 cancellations of Laserfart and MESI Dan Harmon has lingered in the background of Channel 101, sneaking into various hit shows while working on "real" television for VH-1. Before 2006 was complete, Harmon delivered this poignant gem to October audiences and strolled back into prime time. Exposure tells the story of Dylan Carter, a struggling creative drawn to the power of Channel 101, who must overcome his own limitations and cope with rejection. On the show's similarities to Channel 101: The Musical, Harmon writes: "It's Last Temptation of Christ to Makiaris' Jesus Christ: Superstar."

When Phone Sexxers premiered in the summer of 2006 the audience granted the simple show about Phone Sex the honor of another episode. Ryan Ridley and Abed Gheith took their good fortune and ran with it, re-inventing themselves with every episode, right up until the end of the 2006 season. They managed to juxtapose the inner workings of the male phone sex industry with situations ranging from high-rise bloodbaths to the depths of hell, and did it with the kind of class and skill that landed the show Best Editing, Best Special Effects, and Best Writing at the 2006 Channy Awards. In January of 2007, Phone Sexxers ended their legacy with a touching self-cancellation that would make Mike Nichols proud.

Once again, Dave Hartman uses superb technique to take us on a mindblowing journey into the horrific and comical. Once again he is stopped dead in his tracks by the audience. We're ready for the next one, Dave! Dave? Where'd you go?

This is another one of the cartoons I wrote and directed for The Sarah Silverman Program. Same team as the other Sarah cartoons, consisting of Andrew Delange on backgrounds, design, and color; Myke Chilian on character animation, design, and color, AND the absolutely adorable Sevan Najarian on Aftereffects animating, lip sync, and other odds and ends. We were a one stop shop. We had it down. We knew what we were doing. We had it all figured out. Huge shout out to Abed Gheith who voiced the evil Mister Cookiecrumble guy. He really did a great job. Good work pal! These were really fun to make. We were on the lot, able to run around the sets and be assholes while everyone else worked hard to produce and film Sarah’s show. I would go and grab whoever I could in between takes and record them in an office or whatever I had available to me. We really were a rag tag team of rough and tumble animators, just finding our way in the big bright city. I was so proud/ excite...

The Musical broke a longstanding set of unwritten commandments at Channel 101: thou shalt not reference other shows, thou shalt not reference Channel 101 itself, thou shalt especially not admit, on camera, that Channel 101 makes you happy, let alone sing about it. Nevertheless, what it lacked in humility and aloofness, it made up for in devotion, boldness, friendliness, heart and some seriously catchy tunes. Add to that the fact that they bothered to conclude their own story with a tearjerking finale, and you have a masterpiece of meta-tainment and a permanent addition to Channel 101's gilded hall of fame.

Rock Gods, as a followup to the much loved but short-lived S.O.S. Fantome, officially established The Valley Pals as recognizable, bankable talent within the 101 universe. The second episode in particular felt like a group of young writer/performers truly finding their own unique voice, after which point it's easy to imagine that the tedious chore of animating this show became less attractive. Having realized that they could probably get just as many votes for one tenth the labor, The Valley Pals voluntarily retired their own hit show by going over the time limit in a very memorable fourth episode.

What can be said about Yacht Rock that hasn't been said by various magazines, newspapers and disc jockeys across the country? J.D. Unlike HoC, however, Yacht Rock was never sued by its iconic characters' real life counterparts. In fact, it is said that at one time or another, just about every musician lovingly portrayed in the series has witnessed and enjoyed it behind closed doors. Yacht Rock enjoyed success on levels and in ways previously unattained by 101 shows, its title becoming a household phrase at radio stations, a bin at your local record store and a category on iTunes. But beneath its pop cultural triumph was an artistic one that often went undescribed: Yacht Rock's stories were always clever and sometimes downright genius in their assembly, weaving trivi...

A marijuana induced experiment that generated more data than ever expected, MESI was a show that taught us all a lot of lessons, none of which may ever be agreed upon. Rejected by the prime time panel, it was the only show to ever enter the screening via the short-lived "wildcard" system, then went on to garner more votes by acquiring the beloved Sarah Silverman and heroically committing to its anti-production value. After entertaining many, irritating many and confusing many more, MESI was put to an appropriate death in the bloody Halloween screening of 2005.

A series of pop-culture parodies using stop-motion animation of toys, action figures and dolls. A cosmic adventure begins...

The creators of Friends and Lovers and It's Twissleton bring you a little harmless comedy.

Laser Fart began as a joke submission during a light month in 2004. Creator Dan Harmon was able to keep it alive with a Jack Black cameo in episode 2. On the third episode, Harmon teamed up with samurai lensman David Hartman and Channel 101 history was made. Laser Fart delighted audiences with its ironically epic feel and came breathtakingly close to breaking The 'Bu's record for longest running show. Then, in July of 2005, a weary Harmon wrote a ridiculous, slapdash script and the always hungry audience moved down the buffet, never looking back. This coincided with the "takeover" of 101 at the hands of a new generation of leaner, meaner (well, nicer), post-ironic underdogs like J.D. Ryznar, Ryan Ridley, Justin Roiland and the once-cursed Valley Pals. Laser Fart stands as a 101 legend and a cautionary tale: No artist has immunity, no show has true momentum. We can all go at any time.

The creators of "Friends and Lovers" return, this time coupling their trademark absurdity with a coherent story and likeable characters. Not to mention the amount of work that has to go into a Channel 101 animated show. This one could have been a real juggernaut, but my feeling is that it suffered from the sometimes unpredictable effects of maximum audio volume in Cinespace's theatre. Some of the dialogue was hard to catch at the screening- which is not the case at all on your computer, so enjoy.

Cheap Seats without Ron Parker, commonly shortened to Cheap Seats, is a television program broadcast on ESPN Classic hosted by brothers Randy and Jason Sklar. The brothers appear as fictional ESPN tape librarians who amuse themselves by watching old, campy sports broadcasts and wisecracking about them. Cheap Seats debuted on February 4, 2004, with an episode that showed ESPN sportscaster "Ron Parker" getting buried under a shelf full of tapes, forcing the Sklars to fill in, as they were behind Parker on the "hosting depth chart". The founding production team behind "Cheap Seats" included Mark Shapiro, Showrunner, Todd Pellegrino, James Cohen and Joseph Maar. Cheap Seats was originally an hour-long program. There were about 10 one hour-long episodes in the first season, all of which were subsequently cut down to fit a 30 minute time slot.
