A high school student Yiyong, played by Tseng Jing-hua, gets into a bus accident that not only leaves him comatosed for more than a year, but also causes him to wake up with his grandfather’s supernatural powers. With that, Yiyong’s life will never be the same, and the original boring life of Yiyong becomes a fantasy-filled and wild monster-fighting adventure which he embarks on with the help of his school rival, Cao Guangyan played by Peng Cian You, and a rookie policewoman Chen Chuying played by Vivian Sung.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Rock Records in Taiwan, the music label put together an unprecedented concert in the history of Taiwan music, supported by more than 60 performing units. The show toured through Asia and many cities in the Mainland, and finally drew its curtains in Taipei Arena in November 2011. The massive lineup posed an array of challenges in terms of scheduling, lightning, sound and stage design for the crew, but in the end everything came together and resulted in a grand five-hour spectacle. Due to a combination of bad writing, unnecessary and distracting directorial gimmicks (split screens, black & white, slow motion, etc.) and very inept subtitling, "West Down Girls" is almost completely impossible to follow, but I think it has something to do with the rivalry between two girls who are members of opposing street gangs, and the arrival on the scene of a third girl who is the childhood friend of one of them and the sister of the other. The (very few) action scenes are a complete mess. The film is basically an over-the-top melodrama and makes very little sense. I was too frustrated to even enjoy the beauty of Cheryl Yang and Annie Wu.
