The Beck group, with Alex Beijer as new group manager, is given a case where a 12-year-old girl found her mother dead below the stairs at home. Is it an accident or would someone have the single mother something bad? It turns out that the family lives with a protected identity and during the investigation, the case takes several surprising twists. Jens and wife Åsa pack up the family to spend the summer in the archipelago. The idyll, however, does not appear when it comes out that the in-laws do not intend to leave the cottage to Jens and Åsa, but plan to spend the whole summer there with them.

The series is named after a small part of Saltsjöbaden called Solsidan. It revolves around Alex and Anna who are expecting their first child and have just moved to Alex's childhood home in Saltsjöbaden, Stockholm County. Alex tries to get Anna to enjoy herself, and at the same time spend time with his childhood friend Fredde.

Nora is 15 years old. Her parents died when she was young and now she lives with Anders and Karin and their son Dag. They move into an old apartment in an old house in Enköping. Behind a wall they find some old items from people who lived there a long time ago. They also discover that their apartment is haunted by a ghost. Together with Dag, Nora tries to find out more about the people who lived there.
