Aleksey Temnikov is a renowned ballet dancer and an acknowledged genius whose career was abruptly cut short after sustaining an injury in the 1990s. Twenty years later, Aleksey discovers that his condition is degenerative and that he will soon lose the ability to walk. Aleksey sets out to choreograph a ballet he envisaged long before but never staged for fear of failure. “What will I leave behind after I am gone?” is a question Aleksey feels he must contend with. However, returning to the world of ballet will not be easy for a man who has made so many enemies over the course of his life.

Early 18th century. Cartographer Jonathan Green undertakes a scientific voyage from Europe to the East. Having passed through Transylvania and crossed the Carpathian Mountains, he finds himself in a small village lost in impassible woods. Nothing but chance and heavy fog could bring him to this cursed place. People who live here do not resemble any other people which the traveler saw before that. Terror strikes the underground train system in Moscow in the form of a flood from a collapsed tunnel. The film follows a diverse group of Moscow citizens who find themselves trapped in the city’s underground rail network, their train derailed and virtually crushed after an aging tunnel collapses. Amongst this band of survivors is softly spoken surgeon Andrey (Sergei Puskepalis), whose wife is having an affair with the conceited businessman Vlad (Anatoly Beliy). Fate brings these two men together on the same doomed train, but there is little time to resolve their differences, as the tunnel begins to quickly fill with water, forcing them to work together with the others and find a way back to the surface.

The main characters of the film are Zhenya and Volodya: these are young guys from wealthy families who have been friends since childhood, both work in the company of Volodya’s father and are fond of motor sports. Volodya has a bride, Olga, but, as Zhenya becomes aware, she is going to marry solely for selfish ends. A friend refuses to believe it, and then Eugene decides to prevent the tragedy on her own. Mercilessly and publicly, he breaks down the wedding, loses a friend and breaks the heart of Tanya, Olga's sister, who is selflessly and secretly in love with him. The whole story takes place against the backdrop of upheavals within the Zhenya’s family: the mother threw them with her sister Sveta into the care of her father, as a result, Sveta is closed and pathologically unsure of herself, and the imperious father is constantly dissatisfied with his children.

In the 30-40s of the twentieth century, during the construction of the Rybinsk reservoir, seven hundred villages, one hundred and forty churches and monasteries, the ancient Russian city of Mologa went under water. An area of 4,600 kilometers was flooded. The deceased city carried away a secret that has not been solved so far.

Maneuvering his way through the chaotic and violent Moscow Underworld, Ray finds love. But, his bliss is short-lived when he finds out someone has 40 million reasons to want him dead!

Events of the film take place in both hemispheres. Presidents of countries, bosses of drug cartels, special agents and powerful secret service agencies from all around the world are the first hand participants of its events. The film begins with an account of a shocking yet quite ordinary skirmish - an average drug kin pin is beating one of his assistants with a golf club with a purpose of educating him, because the assistant's cell phone was quite unlawfully confiscated by an overly diligent secret service agent. The mutilated gangster understands the incommensurability of his guilt and the level of his fault, and becomes the first character who asks the question: What do we know about the world we live in?

The film takes place in the troubled October days of 1993. The characters — Sergey and Lisa — meet under strange circumstances. And then they are overtaken by love, for which everyone is ready to give their lives.
