Xavier, Miguel, Johnny, Ricky, and Charlie (the members of Menudo) decide to take a hot air ballon to a concert and end up crashing in the woods. The boys have their own adventures (jumping in the mud, skateboarding, stealing motorbikes, playing practical jokes on each other, throwing sea sponges, and meeting beautiful girls) while the record company tries to get them back so that they can perform in concert.

Henchmen of the dictator from a South American country blackmail Nick Thomas into being a government spy. The former smuggler is to pose as a priest and enter a monastery thought to be sympathetic with rebel guerrillas. The release of the film coincided with real-life events, as Catholic priests continued to be the victims of government persecution throughout Latin America.

Machuchal as a federal agent. He presents his humorous adventures and exploits in the city of New York as Agent 0. The film is an extremely mild spoof of James Bondish-spy films.

Manuel, the manager of the (real-life) Hotel Condado Beach in San Juan, and his assistant Paquito decide to promote their establishment by offering free "honeymoons in Puerto Rico" to newlywed couples.

In a New York hospital, a man is cured of heroin addiction after a grueling three-month treatment. Although no longer an addict, he has complete amnesia: the only clues to his past are an expensive ring he was wearing when admitted, and a book of matches from a Puerto Rican nightclub. He pawns the ring and buys clandestine passage on a boat to Puerto Rico in search of his identity.

The film, which is an ode to Rafael Hernández's song "Lamento borincano", is a social commentary of the political and social policies of the 40's and 50's which led to the abandonment of what was seen by many as the "pure", "virtuous" life of the finca (farm) for the "corrupting" influence of urban centers like San Juan and New York City.
