Forgiven is a realistic miniseries with dense atmosphere, based on Laura Manninen's novel. 30-something strong-willed Vilma falls in love with Mikko, who is perfect in many ways: a charming, polite, sensitive and sympathetically capricious man. Gradually, Vilma, who has never dreamed of children, realizes that she and Mikko have somehow become a blended family with hustle and bustle and three children. There's a dog, apple trees and beautifully aged house. Little by little, Mikko's true personality is revealed and the seemingly perfect idyll collapses. The abnormal becomes completely normal. Love, shame, fear and need to solve the problems keep Vilma in abusive relationship until the situation escalates to the poins where it's all about surviving and staying alive. Raid is based on detective stories by author Harri Nykänen and made into a 12-part series. The story tells about a police officer who has been investigating white-collar crimes is shot dead in a TV-studio. Another policeman takes his own life at his summer home. A young woman, an executive with a powerful electronics concern, also commits suicide. Her embittered father suspects foul play and he invites Raid, the woman's former boyfriend to "make inquiries". Meanwhile, the police are looking for the first killer - and the trail leads inexorably to Raid. Very soon, however, they realise that the guilty party is somewhere else, and the interests of the police and the avenging angel Raid converge. The unholy alliance shows that even those with morals may, to some extent, use immoral means to achieve an end. The Raid series was voted the best TV-programme in Finland year 2000. Tapio Piirainen received an award for best script and best direction. The series was also honoured with a prestigious film award and the Finnish Whodunnit Society's award. The music from the series sold gold and platinum.

The film tells the story of two very popular Finnish singer/songwriters: Tapio Rautavaara and Repe Helismaa, who worked together until their relationship got frictious for a long time. The film covers the years from 1949 to 1965. Since the film is based on real-life persons it also tells much about the change in Finland during those years and of course much about Finnish popular music.

Uutisvuoto is the Finnish version of the popular British television quiz show Have I Got News For You. Broadcast on Saturday nights on YLE TV1 since 1998, the show receives very high viewing figures. Uutisvuoto mainly follows the same format as Have I Got News For You. The guests are usually celebrities, and frequently politicians. In the last two presidential elections, both of the second-round candidates appeared as guests: to-be-president Tarja Halonen and Esko Aho in 2000, and president Halonen and Sauli Niinistö in 2006. To date, winning the show has correlated with winning the election contest itself. In 2006 the "presidential show" broke all viewing records when it was watched by 1.4 million viewers. The show is so popular in Finland that it was even parodied in the Aku Ankka comic book as Uutiskuono. "Haluatteko lukea hyvän vitsin jonka kuulin äsken Yleisradion kahvilassa?" is Peter Nyman's Uutisvuoto joke book. The book's name is a reference to Nyman's way of telling jokes. He opens with the book's name, then, ignoring all answers, continues: "Ei se mitään, kerron sen silti."
