It is the number of successful World Title defenses accomplished by Bryan Danielson in his reign as champion and it is a number only one other man has matched. The list of the competitors who attempted to wrestling the belt from the possession of Danielson read's like a who's who of the top talent in the wrestling world: Roderick Strong, Lance Storm, Austin Aries, Samoa Joe, and KENTA, just to name a handful. For 462 days one wrestler after another made it their mission to dethrone Danielson and for 462 days each of them failed.

In May of 2004, at an event dubbed "Generation Next" because of its intent to give a new generation of wrestlers a chance to shine, four men took it upon themselves to crash the party and change the landscape of Ring of Honor. Genesis (2009) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), which took place on January 11, 2009 at the Bojangles' Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.[1] It was originally scheduled to take place on November 9, 2008 at the Impact! Zone in Orlando, Florida,[3][4] however, TNA moved Turning Point to that date instead. It was the fourth event under the Genesis chronology.

Final Resolution (December 2008) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), which took place on December 7, 2008 at the TNA Impact! Zone in Orlando, Florida.[2] It was the fifth event under the Final Resolution chronology and second Final Resolution event to take place in 2008. Final Resolution is usually held in the month of January, however, TNA moved the event to December in early October 2008. Hell Freezes Over was a wrestling event held by Ring of Honor. It took place on January 14, 2006 at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show’s name comes from the main event, as ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson takes on Combat Zone Wrestling’s Chris Hero. The match came about after Danielson and Hero made several comments about each other on the internet. Danielson then sent an open contract for a shot at the ROH World Championship to CZW, who then signed Hero. Earlier in the day, CZW held An Afternoon of Main Events at the New Alhambra Arena in Philadelphia. During the show, Bryan Danielson, ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness, and ROH Tag Team Champions Austin Aries and Roderick Strong jumped the guard rail, starting a fight with several CZW wrestlers. The show would be the start of the Ring of Honor vs. Combat Zone Wrestling feud, which would last for seven months.

After wrestling to two one hour draws at World Title Classic and Joe vs. Punk II, the stipulation was that there was no time limit; however, if Punk failed to defeated Joe he would not receive another shot at the title for as long as Joe held it.
