Fina Torres

Fina Torres

Born: October 9, 1951
in Caracas, Venezuela
Fina Torres is a film director. She became known by winning la Caméra d'Or award at the 1985 Cannes Film Festival with her directorial debut film, Oriana. 

She studied design, photography and journalism in Venezuela and later on film at the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques in Paris. She now lives in Mexico and the United States.  She continues to work with film projects related to Latin America as well as giving workshops in direction and script writing in Venezuela.

Her notable works include Mécaniques célestes (Celestial Clockwork) (1995), Woman on Top (2000), Habana Eva ("Havana Eva" (2008).
