However, on October 18, 2021, AAA announced that the event would be occurring on December 4 at the Estadio de Béisbol Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.[2] It marked the 29th year in a row that AAA has held a Triplemanía show, and the 36th overall show held under the Triplemanía banner since 1993. The annual Triplemanía show is AAA's biggest event of the year, serving as the culmination of major storylines in what has been described as AAA's version of WrestleMania or their Super Bowl event.

Triplemanía VIII was the eighth Triplemanía professional wrestling show promoted by AAA. The show took place on July 5, 2000 in Tokyo, Japan. It was only the second show to take place outside Mexico and the first show to take place in Japan. The Main event featured an Eight-man "Atómicos" tag team match which saw AAA regulars team up with various Japanese wrestlers. The team of Octagón, Jushin Thunder Liger, Latin Lover, and El Alebrije took on Cibernético, Cima, Abismo Negro, and Electroshock.

The World Wrestling Peace Festival was a professional wrestling supercard event produced by Japanese professional wrestler Antonio Inoki, which took place on June 1, 1996 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California. The event was organized by Inoki to promote world peace with an interpromotional event involving major promotions from around the world. Forty wrestlers from six countries ended up taking part in the event. Inoki's home promotion New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), as well as smaller independent groups, represented Japan, while World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) took part on behalf of the United States. Both of Mexico's top promotions Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) participated in the event, which was considered unlikely by many in the industry given their own heated rivalry.
