A young British nobleman, impoverished and desperate, clings to the hope that either a prizefighter or a racehorse in which he holds interests can save his fortunes.

Peggy Mason joins her boyfriend Douglas Wyman at a secluded cabin. When he confesses his love and the fact he is still a married man Peggy is distraught and flees the cabin. But meanwhile Douglas' wife is murdered and when the police arrest him he finds he can't provide an alibi without tarnishing Peggy's reputation.

Because he feels the child's mother was treated unfairly, Hewes decides to pull one last heist to square things.

Daniel Boone Brown is a pleasure-seeking playboy carousing around New York City without a care in the world -- that is, until he becomes the unwitting subject of a series of experiments at the hands of a sadistic psychiatrist. Through various means of control, the mad scientist drives Daniel to think he's losing his mind, but ultimately introduces him to the lovely Lucette.

John Douglas divorces his wife, taking custody of their son Kenneth and leaving her with their little daughter Kathleen. Mrs. Douglas dies in poverty, and Kathleen falls in with crook Jack Baggot and his wife, who teach her how to pick pockets.
