Vasylii is a classic example of a man living under his wife's thumb. His bossy, grumpy wife is nagging at him from morning till night for no apparent reason. Poor guy has accepted his fate, however, today, on the way to a birthday party, he gets a chance to find out, what it feels like to be a real man, a knight of sorts, and to do something heroic.

In the historic Donbass region of eastern Ukraine, despite the cruel war that has been raging since 2014 between the self-proclaimed People's Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk and the Ukrainian government, people try to survive in the rotten heart of chaos, where violence disguises itself as peace, propaganda becomes univocal truth and hatred reigns in the name of love.

The young musician vagabond cheats his mother pretending he is external student of the fiscal academy and serving in the military. Mother works abroad and sends money to her son. Everything is fucking good till last exam session. He fails and could be excluded from the academy. Mother goes to Ukraine to do whatever is needed to help her son to make his way in the world. The film is based on the true story of Captain Marinesku and set in 1944 during WWII at the Russian Navy Base. Young and beautiful Tanka is in love with Aleksandr Marinin, the brave Captain of the Russian submarine. He is under the KGB surveillance, and his life is at risk. He takes his boat to fight the Nazi fleet, and he cannot come back home without a victory.
