Paxtown, a corrupt capital, torn by crime and preyed by the mafia. In this rotten megalopolis, Richard Aldana, street smart, without ties or ambitions, is a boxer in his off time. Raised to believe in performance and in the idea that all abilities must be optimized, Emma is a young, methodical woman who appears determined and relatively sure of herself. She then sets out on a formidable plan of action (theory, practical, validation of acquired knowledge), which soon provokes a series of misunderstandings and disasters within her immediate vicinity. For one thing, her method doesn't turn out to be really adapted to her field of investigation. And Emma has probably also forgotten a little detail: love doesn't obey any plan. In this absurd and nutty quest, Emma will learn to let go, to lose control, and, to finally win her freedom.

One evening, Etienne, a police officer from the BAC, and Christian, his teammate, witness the assault of a young girl. But the killer manages to escape, seriously injuring Christian. Shortly after, Etienne discovers, on the one hand, that Angèle, the woman who left him seven months earlier, is about to give birth and that his new boss, Alex Le Guen, is none other than the man he spent the night with after a drunken evening.

Set in July 1793 during the outbreak of the French Revolution and the unleashing of the Reign of Terror, a young girl from Caen named Charlotte Corday plots to assassinate Jacobin newspaper editor Jean-Paul Marat.
