One seedy, middle-of-nowhere hotel room -- viewed at three different points in time -- is the scene of most of the action in this film noir that revolves around the mystery of a young woman's abduction and her father's quest to solve it. Drawn again and again to the motel room where his daughter was last seen, Jon (Ben Siegler) can't see what the film's viewers can: what went down in that room before and after the girl disappeared.

A young woman was left mentally disabled after a car crash twenty years previously, a condition which her mother has never come to accept. Thus she favors her other "normal" daughter and basically tolerates the other daughter's existence. It also doesn't help that her husband also has some mental disabilities. As the family slowly divides, the older daughter's unconditional love rises.

Homicide detective John Hobbes witnesses the execution of serial killer Edgar Reese. Soon after the execution the killings start again, and they are very similar to Reese's style.

A disgruntled former employee hijacks the Seabourn Legend cruise liner.
