The Laguna Dam is to be built in Arizona to supply water to desert-land unfit for cultivation or stock-raising. Rival companies bid for the building contract, which leads to violence and danger for Bob Owen and his dog Satan.

Bill is a rich miner but wants a wife. He advertises in an Eastern paper and receives a response from Nellie and Eleanor, but doesn't know it was sent as a joke. When he travels East to meet them, they have the cook pose as the writer of the response.

At college, Jack is spending his dad's money and not studying. When dad comes for a visit, Jack gets one of his friends to dress as a woman and flirt with his father. Another friend pretends to be the jealous husband, forcing dad to buy his way out of trouble.

Mary Adams, about to visit relatives in a distant part of the country, is entrusted to the care of Manuel Bond. The girl's beauty inflames Bond, a gambler and a scoundrel. Later, the girl meets Kit, a young backwoodsman. It is a case of love at first sight and the two are married the same day.
