A grifter in 1960s New York is hired to convince a wealthy man's son to return home from Italy and begins a life of deceit, fraud and murder.

Anthon is renowned physicist researching Dark Matter - particles we know nothing about, but of which 95% of our universe consists of. Anthon's life is turned upside down when his eleven years old son Thomas is kidnapped by Elena, a mysterious woman. From that moment Anthon not only has to go look for his son, but also for himself. Dark Matter is a reflection on the dark mysteries of our universe and how we relate to the unknown.

Teo has a good job, a fiancee, a lover, no intention to assume any responsibility in his life. Meeting Emma, a blind woman, will upset his convictions.

Written over 10 years this was intended to be a precursor to Pirandello’s seminal 1921 meta-play Six Characters in Search of an Author [...] the film was to feature a fictional version of the development of his play, allowing Pirandello to explore the ethics of the creative process."
