In 1981 in Medjugorje (BA), a group of kids claim that Virgin Mary appeared to them on a hill. The local priest believes them and spreads the word. Religious tourism blossoms. The communist government is concerned and arrests the priest.

Learning of a Nazi plot to attack Washington, D.C. with a deadly nerve gas, Major Wright leads twelve convicts on a suicide mission deep into occupied France to destroy the secret factory where the poison is made.

Zagreb in 1942. The police blocks on of the houses while looking for one of the communist officials hiding in the apartment of young female illegal fighter. Them two manage to escape, however police kills her husband. In the house, her small baby is left, which police wants to use as a bait so they could catch them. Children who live in the neighborhood steal the baby, upon which the police starts thorough search of the house.

The funeral in his native village evokes the main character's reminiscences from the childhood, but the bygone time exist only in his memories.
