Sixth graders Art, Vic, Phil, and Kira find a laptop with an unusual adventure game, «Heroes of Envell». The laptop unveils a secret portal to enter the game world.

Sashka is a normal boy from a small provincial of Koshkin whose dream is to become special. One day he notices that everyone around him have started to behave strangely. As he finds out that he is the "special" one not affected by Uncle Tolik's mind control device, he realizes that only he can stop the evil from happening.

A young boy witnesses his parents' murder. Later, as he grows up, he befriends a bear in the wilderness and the chief of a local Indian tribe, and he stays with the Indians, but makes an enemy of the chief's son. As he enters adulthood he sets out to find the men responsible for his parents' deaths.

On the same day, Andrei's wife Nina asks for a divorce, his colleague Natasha tells him she's attracted to him, he's assigned a new project under the direction of Philip (a well-dressed, authoritative, and even arrogant stranger who keeps touching him), and he fights a gang of homophobes to protect a young gay man, Oleg. The next day, Philip takes Andrei away from the office on an odyssey into a space that is charged with spirituality and homoeroticism. Philip is no businessman, and the disclosure of who he really is forces Andrei into a series of choices that involve Natasha, Nina, belief, and love.
