Jacques Vauthier, a blind, deaf and mute writer is accused of a crime he quickly confesses to having committed. Jacques refuses to explain himself to his wife. His lawyer, Mr. Deliot, however, will try to discover the truth, because he is convinced that his client is innocent.

A young priest works as a barman in a Pigalle cafe in Paris. He tries to prevent the women there to prostitute themselves....

"Thieves We Are" - In flashback, the audience learns why 104-year-old Amedee steals the watch belonging to the town mayor. The story develops into a history of the watch-thievery business, told in anecdotal fashion.
