After a contract fight somewhere in the open spaces of Russia between St. Petersburg and Moscow, the top Moscow football hooligans return home to the capital with a victory. On the way, their minibus breaks down, which has to be brought into service in the nearest unknown town called Popadaysk. They are forced to stay in this city for the night. At first glance, the usual provincial town, but it was not there. Its criminal authorities, its laws of the street, corrupt cops, its own fashion and style, and its secrets.

This movie is about soccer hooligans, the most aggressive and violent soccer aficionados. They are an exclusive group, the elite of all soccer fans. Whoever they may be in their everyday lives—college students, bankers, musicians, or car mechanics—they are a “firm.” It’s easy to get into a firm, but once you’re in, it’s for life. Two village boys - brothers Semyon and Pavel - serve a Moscow merchant-shopkeeper. They face harsh exploitation and hard forced labor. The brothers' life paths diverge. Unable to withstand the merchant's bullying, Pavel goes to the factory, becomes a worker, and later a professional revolutionary. Semyon remains in service. In the post-revolutionary period, Semyon, having been to the front and returning to the village, joined the kulaks, brutally dealt with representatives of the Soviet government, becoming the head of a gang of “badgers” hiding in the forests.
