In “82 Tenants” the widow Zhang and Bing, her new young consort, want to sell an apartment house to a property developer but old man Zhang's will provided that the current tenants can stay there as long as they want or the building survives. So it is clear who the villains are—joining the greedy couple is Chao who has purchased all the land around the building but needs this final piece so he can know everything down and build a money spinning edifice. One the other side are the tenants, a disparate group whose grudgingly and occasionally antagonistically shared communal life, while not ideal, is certainly better than not having a place to live.

The main characters - the arrogant, harassed director, the sexy starlet, or naïve actors are familiar enough stereotypes. Along the way however, there is some fun to be had as more humorous incidents occur on the sound stage, together with dashes of nudity. Some of the events are presumably inspired by real life experiences, others have a distinct air of wishful fabrication. The over-the-top Kung Fu star, deserted by director and crew as he goes through his pointless extended routine, for instance. Or the action heroes, sweating in furs while they dutifully munch through their meal scene, 'snow' falling outside in studio land.

Upon learning that she is being pursued by her widowed stepmother, Hua (Lo Wan-yin), and Hua’s lover, who conspired to harm Ying’s father, Sha Yung and Shuang La extend their sympathy. Hua employs a professional assassin to attack Ying’s hideout . The two resourceful con-artists assist Yang to resist the assault. Eventually, they capture Hua and her partner in crime, setting the stage for a reckoning with justice.

In the sex comedy "The Scandalous Warlord", the true power behind the country's many warlords was the prostitutes that these men would routinely visit. Therefore, the power in this film lies in the hands of the sassy Shirley Yu and the titillating Shaw Yin Yin.

It's Meng Yuan-wen (star of The Master Strikes) versus Kuan Feng in this wild and wacky wushu saga of a priceless pole with a spectacular secret. A master martial artist's silly disciple struggles to save it from an evil white slaver, the slaver's duplicitous wife, and even his own bone-headed, but greedy, companion. Hsu Hsia choreographs the abundant action, as he had for both Five Superfighters and Drunken Master. The result is both sublime (for its kung-fu) and engagingly ridiculous.

Huo, a famous master of the Huo family, defeats the Zhao family in a challenge and gains fame. He later fights foreign boxers to defend Chinese martial arts. Huo and his friends face constant harassment from foreigners and struggle to promote martial arts in China. Despite opposition from his father and other martial artists, Huo establishes a martial arts school and ultimately sacrifices his life for his ideals.
