The action unfolds in our days, in the small Volga town of Kalinov, where nothing has changed since the days of Alexander Ostrovsky’s classical play: if any rays of light do appear in the dark empire, then they are doomed to perish quietly in the general absurdity and ignorance, or shine brightly as a token of protest against lie and tyranny. The young, married girl Katerina Kabanova leads a happy life — at first sight. Only her mother-in-law Kabanikha constantly nags her and does not allow her to take things easy. Her weak-willed husband Tikhon loves his wife, but he always sides with his powerful mother. When Katerina unexpectedly falls in love with Boris, the young relative of the town’s mayor, she finds that he also has tender feelings for her…

Contemporary Moscow. Svyatoslav, a poor boy, falls in love with Asya, a rich girl, and wants to marry her. To support her in the manner in which she is accustomed, he opens an upscale restaurant. But he soon discovers he has a unseen enemy.

The eccentric Rita Hurricane rushes into the life of the security guard of the Leo shopping center and changes it forever. And the hero of the story "Carpe diem" solves an important question - to lie or not to lie, when everyone around is lying.

Near the walls of the Kremlin, a real duel unfolds between two former friends over a girl of exceptional beauty and supernatural powers named Olesya.... But who is Olesya?... a 16-year-old feeble-minded girl, the week-long wife, a blessed fool with superpowers, able to light up lamps and electrocute in the bedroom. She is a literary character living in 21st century Moscow, unaware of her own beauty and power. For the two young and rich playboys, Olesya's 'spicy make-up' takes on a whole new meaning. But what can this pretentious duel change in an iPhone-world full of infidelity, vanity, and cruelty?

Vanya - Give mushrooms !!! "- that so begins an extraordinary video footage recorded by the camera, which accidentally found in the woods by hunters. What is it - a sensation? Russian King Kong? Maybe poignant love story? Six months ago, somewhere in the Urals, in the taiga, lost television journalism Larisa Debomonova. Where is it - nobody knows. Let's inspection before the end of the hour and a half plot. Perhaps we will learn what happened to her.

Short stories that seem to be absolutely different, none of the main characters is connected with the other one, each following story is totally unlike the previous one. Only in the end of the film the viewer gets the clear explanation of the neighborhood of the described destinies and the connection between the characters.

Gera, a respected director of TV commercials, thinks he's capable of creating a fiction movie masterpiece. Predictably, he ends up with owning money to a mafia and no film to show for. To make his life even crazier he falls in love with a girl who belongs to the boss of mafia.

Andrei's ex-girlfriend Tania (Anzhela Belyanskaya) has been constantly in danger of going to jail since he knew her. Their breakup was not his doing, and he is determined to keep her out of jail. Andrei (Oleg Menshikov) has a notion that, if he can raise enough money, he can smuggle her out of Russia into New York, where all will be well. While Andrei's grasp on reality may be tenuous, his ability to maneuver and scheme is unimpaired. He is a student filmmaker, and the kind of money he needs to save Tania with doesn't grow on trees. He begins raising funds by mugging men at public toilets, and graduates to stealing the drug money accumulated by more serious gangsters. After he has raised the money to accomplish his goal, his girl, the light of his life, confesses that she despises him, and then goes out and gets arrested.

This film is of interest primarily because it contains within it the entire surviving footage of an unfinished 1974 film by the same director, Slave of Love, which was successfully remade shortly thereafter by another director, Nikita Mikhalkov.The "cover" story is about a woman (Jeanne Moreau) newly released from prison camps in the 1940s back into Russian society, who finds that there is no place for her in the world she has come back to. However, this painterly film is so filled with striking and surreal imagery that it would be misleading to say that the story is of any great importance in relation to that.

After his marriage with Lyuba breaks down, Boris begins to search for an apartment of his own. He locates an apartment for couples which is being inhabited by a lone old lady who is supposed to move in with her sister. The old lady doesn't want to go, and tries to stave off the inevitable by taking in a young woman Elya as a flat-mate.

The film is based on a conflict between the director of a textile mill and the chief engineer, who regards the initiative of the director for automation of the enterprise as a projection project. However, thanks to young specialists, the director achieves the implementation of his plans by solving the demographic problem of the textile town and providing men with jobs.
