A young master, Vladimir Dubrovsky, comes to the estate to visit his father, who has long been in litigation with his neighbor, the despotic landowner Troekurov. Having seriously insulted Dubrovsky Sr., Troekurov tries to go to peace, but the proud old man is adamant.

The film tells about the childhood and youth of the wife, friend and military ally of the founder of the country of the Soviets Nadezhda Konstantinovna Krupskaya. The main attention in the film is paid to the participation of a young revolutionary in the organization of the struggle of the workers of St. Petersburg for their rights, against the autocracy.

Здесь он знакомится с доктором Петерсоном и его дочерью Лейдой. За женихом Лейды охотятся жандармы. В городе происходит убийство сына банкира. Подозрение падает на Петерсона. За расследование преступления берется Жюль Ардан.
