It's summertime. The students Allan and Erik returns to their home town. 19-year old Allan is in love with 17-year old Anna-Lena. She rejects his clumsy attempts of telling her, but that's because she is uncertain of her own feelings. The Norwegian singer Lydia Hennert has an accident with her car and she is slightly injured. Allan's father is a doctor and Lydia spends a few days with them. Allan falls in love with her instead, she is a "real" woman and not a girl. But this makes Anna-Lena jealous.

Sixteen year old Maria arrives in Stockholm. She is going to stay with her aunt. Already at the Central station events occur that change her route.

Eric regards his studies as a way of getting somewhere, while Clarence is only interested in the drawing lessons. There are only a few months left until graduation. A comedy mystery involving the composer and cartoonist Hubert Yrhage, the journalist Gary Lundberg, anticartoon campaigner Lena Lett, the mysterious Jens Myskovich and music publisher Darling Karlsson. Yrhage receives his manuscripts from an 11 year-old whose inspiration comes from the mysterious events at a boarding house where several of the characters stay.

A wealthy woman is suspected of murder and runs from the police

Four Swedish volunteer soldiers are trapped in Russia. In front of them lies the front with enemy outposts and patrols, behind them the enemy minefields. Hope to return to their own lines decreases each day. Corpses of fallen, "dead of cold and hard as iron", forms the macabre landmarks in the winter landscape. Nearby is a burnt Russian village.

"The Shadow" - Erik Vender is a librarian and married to Vivianne. Vivianne was previously married to a well-known lawyer who died when their daughter was very small. One evening, Vivianne asks Erik to read a novel draft "Skuggan/The Shadow". The content strongly touches Erik. Vivianne reveals that it is her ex-husband that wrote the script.

A man and a woman are cheated on by their respective partners and decide to get their revenge.

For the Sake of My Intemperate Youth (Swedish: För min heta ungdoms skull) is a 1952 Swedish drama film directed by Arne Mattsson. It was entered into the 1953 Cannes Film Festival.

"Two Women" - Cecilia is in hospital after being subjected to an attempt on her life. Her husband is called to the hospital. Cecilia deliriously mentions a mutual friend. The husband seeks out the friend.

Harald Handfaste is a 15th century Swedish Robin Hood, who fights against foreign oppression. He becomes the leader of a band of highwaymen and they start dealing with the evil bailiff. However, the bailiff will stop at nothing to catch Handfaste and show the people who is in charge. He even attempts to marry Handfaste's beloved Karin, and when she refuses to subdue, the bailiff decides to execute both her, her father and a monk who has been helping them.

Tomas Eckert, a civil servant, is subjected to a violated woman's revenge. It happens to be his boss's wife, Märta Palm. Tomas is accused of having abused Mrs.Palm. She also reveals that Tomas's wife is morphine addict. He collapses and is forced to accept early retirement, diagnosed "epilepsy with mental changes"

An artist lives with his wife in a large house on the countryside. She is bored, longing to return to the city and her life as an actress. She leaves him. He falls in love with a young girl, not knowing that the girl is his wife's daughter.

When the prestigious Dr. Arne Lundell completes the most important work of his life, a colleague from the University of Stockholm, Dr. Sander, complains against him for plagiarism. Marianne, wife of Arne, does everything possible to encourage her anxious husband for not understanding the reasons for this unjust accusation. In these circumstances, Sander is found dead. It seems that it is a suicide, but his soon finds that he has been murdered. Suspicions fall on Dr. Arne. The dramatic situation begins to unravel when Arne discovers, by chance, a letter by which he discovers that his wife was the secret lover of the missing professor.

"The Ingegerd Bremssen Case" - The young nurse Ingegerd Bremssen walks on a lonely road in the woods and gets attacked by a man. He rapes her and disappears. A passing car picks up Ingegerd and drives her to a mental hospital, where she is taken care of. But she has suffered a severe shock and considers her life completely ruined.

A stateless lawyer comes with his son Karel and his two daughters Vanja and Sonja as refugees to Stockholm. No one gets work permit in Sweden and the family's problems grows to not just financially. The idleness and hopelessness towards the future is almost worse and that can lead into dangerous paths.

An engineer and a businessman is on the run from Manchuria, where revolution and civil war erupted. Both suffer from typhoid and the businessman dies. Before he dies, he changes identity with the engineer.

She has an affair with the pastor, Ingvar Hagson, but they have to keep their love a secret.

"The Russian Cold" - Kalle Brodin, the leader of the Swedish communists, just released from a short prison term, don't know what to do with the directives that comes from Moscow.

Adolph Turesson is a mild-mannered, meek college professor whose faint-heart isn't impressing the fair-lady he secretly loves, the golden-haired Britta Larsson. Attending a lecture, he witnesses the attention paid to his lady-love by other faculty members, and falls to sleep. He dreams of the olden days and the knights, and the comely ladies of the court over whom they fought. His dream also gives all the cast the change to play a second role. Upon awakening, he proposes to Britta.

Lena Bergström works in an office and is unhappily in love with her boss, Johan Borg. She decides to quit. Borg's wife won't have any children, and when she becomes pregnant she has an illegal abortion. For some reason, Lena's father believes that it is Lena who has had an abortion.

The orphan Alfred lives with two ladies in an idyllic cottage near a private golf course.

Björn Kraft is an office clerk and one day his boss installs a new accounting machine that can do three mans job. A couple of days later Björn gets the termination letter.

A woman on vacation is mistaken for Greta Garbo.

The engineer Ragge has taken shipowner Gustafsson's daughter Anna-Greta on a sail cruise and they stay on an island overnight. When the shipowner finds out, Ragge gets sacked from the shipyard where he works.

"House of Silence" - A banker and his old housekeeper are brutally assassinated by a gangster called Smith. The murders are arranged so that they may look like a showdown between two victims. The police force are divided on the murders. Susanna Braun, an old acquaintance of the banker, claims that he could not have murdered his housekeeper. A baron who owns a night club is in need of money. He does business with gangsters. The baron involves Smith in the kidnapping of Susanna Braun.

The story revolves around a collective of variety artists. A stolen safety deposit box theft gets all in toruble.

During a night at the big department store a gang of thieves are active, while the CMO is staging a pr coup to increase sales of swimsuits. The clerk Ann Marie and CEO's son Erik, manages to catch the thieves and then spend the night in the store dining and dancing.

Erik Andersson marries Brita Blomstedt. During the wedding party he drinks alcohol which he is not used to. Later that evening Erik is involved in a brawl that end with a policeman getting a knife in the back.
