Lili has left everything behind to travel to the edge of the earth and accomplish her dream, fishing the Northern seas. When a lethal disease suddenly infects Kiddi’s sheep, the entire valley comes under threat. The authorities decide to cull all the animals in the area to contain the outbreak. But Gummi and Kiddi don’t give up so easily – and each brother tries to stave off the disaster in his own fashion: Kiddi by using his rifle and Gummi by using his wits.

A young man has to go to the hospital for an operation. Upon his arrival he watches paramedics roll out a deceased person from the hospital room he is about to be checked in to. Lying in bed with nothing to do his mind starts to wander. He strikes up a conversation about life with an old man who paints a rather dark picture of what can happen during one’s stay in a hospital. The old man shares his ironic philosophy on life, causing him great anxiety. Will he make it out alive?

The film revolves around Hildur, a national celebrity and socialite who has to look for a job when her boyfriend Jolli is sent to prison. She finds a job at Astrópía, a store that sells role playing books and her immersion into geek culture changes her outlook on life.

To start with we are led to believe the setting is a country-hotel of some sort. In the end we discover this is a State Rehabilitation Facility and everything that happens is a carefully orchestrated escape plot by some of the inmates. The film was shot on location at an isolated boarding school in Saelingsdalur in the west of Iceland. The school is used as a hotel during the summer months but the film takes place in the wintertime.
