Written by Kim Eun-sook and directed by Shin Woo-chul, the story revolves around a low-ranking government clerk who becomes the youngest mayor of the fictional Inju City, and her romance with an ambitious and cynical deputy mayor. The drama series also marked movie star Cha Seung-won's return to the small screen after a six-year absence.

Since then, they have conflicts about everything. Meanwhile, Dong-wu’s ex-girlfriend and his son’s birth mother, Mi-su gets in an accident at a club and gets help from Ban-suk’s brother, Jong-hyeok. One day, Ban-suk meets Dong-wu’s son and begins to understand who Dong-wu really is. After they realize they both have grudges against Ban-suk’s husband, Wang-bae, they become closer friends. When Dong-wu’s son treats her like his mother, Ban-suk is reminded of her dead son. Dong-wu, who is helping Ban-suk overcome her difficult past, falls in love with her without realizing that he’s the one who caused her pain three years ago.

This debut feature from female Korean director Park Kyung-hee tells the story of a photographer whose life is changed indelibly when she discovers she has a rare disease which causes tunnel vision and possible eventual blindness. Divided into four sections, it depicts the break-up of her relationship with her boyfriend, her problems with her old-fashioned family, her attempts to deal with her disease through her art and, finally, her desire to fly an airplane before she loses her sight entirely.

In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Korean Film Academy, 20 of the academy's former students (who are respected director's today) were invited to shoot an omnibus movie consisting of 20 short films. Overall this work was very well received by the critiques at the 17th Tokyo International Film Festival. A young girl is caught up in the 1980 Gwangju massacre, where Korean soldiers killed hundreds, if not thousands, of protesters who opposed the country's takeover by the military the year before. Flashbacks show the girl seeing her mother shot to death in the massacre. The film spurred the Korean public to demand the truth behind the incident, and their government eventually opened previously classified files on the massacre.
