A filmmaker makes a documentary about Elvis sightings

Across the Line (2000) is a truthful representation of both hope and corruption, focusing on critical events transpiring at America's border with Mexico and known both to those who live on the "line" (physical and metaphorical) and to those with the courage to cross it. Further it is a fine example of the filmmaker's art, featuring convincing portrayals underpinned by a convincing script and the directorial talent of Martin Spottl.

In this warm hearted farce, local boy Eddie returns to the small California town where he grew up, setting in motion a comedy of Eros. Eddie spots and falls for local handyman Jeff. Handyman Jeff works for Hank who runs the Swallows restaurant. Hank's long ago ex, Pietro, is returning to cater a wedding, while Eddie takes a temporary job as a cook in order to get his chance with Jeff. Meanwhile Jeff lives at home with his straight brother Paul who's getting married but Paul's also having an affair with an older woman, Eddie's mom.

We find Steven, a good-looking American hero devastated by the death of his girlfriend, wandering through Europe and looking for happiness. A car accident leads him to a small town sitting literally in the shadow of Dracula's castle. The frightened villagers have been preyed upon for generations. Steven is stunned to discover Carla, the innkeeper's daughter looks identical to his dead girlfriend. When she begs for his assistance against the vampire, he agrees to help them. Together with Dr. Van Helsing, he attacks Dracula using a variety of ingenious weapons against the supernatural. Dracula shows unusual powers that defeat them at every turn, including fireballs and lightning from his fingertips. He is constantly on a search for blood to satisfy his centuries-old bickering brides. When Dracula kidnaps Carla right out of her bed, Steven and Van Helsing desperately try to kill him before it is too late.
